Why is it a great time to start an online business?
You may well ask this question. I know I have several times. You look around and the market appears to have plenty of established experts, who have spent years building up their following and their brand. They have huge lists and appear to be able to produce content like machines. The good thing is that you can aspire to do the same and there are lots of advantages to starting an online business now.
So why is it a good time for people like you and me to start an online business?
Mentors and Courses
Why, because you have so many people to learn from. People who have made mistakes, so you don’t have to. People who can show you the best route to building a website, building an email list, advertising on Facebook etc.
You have a myriad of online courses, many of them free, where you can learn how to build your business. With a bit more investment, you can enroll in a paid course on a particular topic or a coaching program where you can really learn from the experts.
Sources of Information
There are multiple sources of information like blogs, books, videos, and podcasts, so you can learn in a way that suits you. You can learn on your commute to work or while you work out at the gym. You can absorb hours of video instead of watching TV.
The growth of the blog means that you can find information about almost anything. You can also find someone who is doing well in an area you want to be and you can follow their business model. Just remember to add your personality to allow you to stand out.
The main negative of all this is that there is just too much choice. Too many options available, but you can afford to be selective.
Great New Tools
If you look at some of the online marketers who have been around for a long time. People like Darren Rowse of Problogger or Jeremy and Jason from Internet Business Mastery. When they started their online business, software tools were scarce. Even Facebook was new.
Now there are great tools like Leadpages for creating landing pages or Convertkit or Drip for automating email. There is also Neverbounce, for cleaning your email list, so you don’t end up with bounced emails.
You have tools like: Buffer, Coschedule or Hootsuite for managing your social media posts and Click Funnels for, well, building sales funnels.
If you want to run Webinars, you have Demio and WebinarJam. You also have EverWebinar for managing Evergreen Webinars.
There are other tools like Trello and Slack that help you organize yourself and your team. You also have cool graphics creation tools like Canva and Adobe Spark. Many of these are free to use or have a low monthly subscription.
All this just makes life easier. OK, you have to learn how to use these tools, but it is a lot easier than doing things manually.
More Time for Your Side Hustle
All this automation means you can get more done in the time available. If your business is your side hustle, investing in the right tools can allow you to run your business alongside a full-time job and still find time for the family, if you are organized.
On that note, make sure you don’t get swallowed up in all that information. Learn what you need to at each stage in your business so you don’t get distracted. If you plan carefully, you will know what you need to learn at each step.
Here are just a few things that should hopefully make you feel more positive. It there is something that you think makes it a great time to start an online business, please drop a note in the comments section below.
